- Wordsmith Table -

The brief for this table was "Farmhouse table with a contemporary feel". I wanted the joinery to be a real feature and I spent a lot of time developing the triple interlocking tenon for the frame of the table. The timber is spotted gum which has a wonderful silky feel due to its density and high oil content. A long bench was commissioned at the same time which fits perfectly between the table legs to save space when not in use.
There is a subtle curve on the rail of the table and bench which softens the visual weight of the dark timber.
